Cobra Replicas are not all equal in build quality. The most consistent in manufacturing comes from Hi-Tech who build, among others, the Superformance Cobra. These are factory built cars and is the only company licensed to produce replicas of the iconic cobra but there are only a handful available in Canada. Factory Five racing is likely the next most common replica but there is a tremendous amount of variability in built quality. The simple construction makes these cars easy to work on, relatively inexpensive to maintain and a blast to drive. Insurance options seem to vary with driving record. My annual premium is under 700.00.

If these cars are properly assembled by knowledgeable builders, they are reliable machines. Of course if you are beating the thing all the time it will wear out like anything else. For me, it is just a cruiser. I'm over 60 and have had prenty of hot cars but this is the attention getter! Mine was built by the manufacturer and is trouble free! Insurance was easily obtained. There are a few insurers that have NO difficulty in insuring this vehicle as long as your driving record is clean and you are over 30. The car is just a fantastic fun ride and a complete head turner!

Loved the car to death but it is literally impossible to get insurance on a replica cobra that is less than $2500 a year which is INSANE.
