Mercury Mystique 1997-1998Change

If you take care of this car, it will take care of you. I use synthetic oil and 92 octane gas, do regular maintenance and the car drives like new.
It's good on gas and even though it's a 4 Cylinder, it has good power.
Parts are super cheap for it, just have to order them online and then let a shop install them for you, otherwise you will pay 2 to 4 times as much for parts at a shop.

besides some sticky transmission problems and that the overdrive flicks on whenever its just keeps on rolling

I owned this vehicle for about a week, bought it second hand. The alternator died. Normally, this is an easy fix on cars, but I had to jack up the front end, take off the passenger front wheel, pull the cowling off, and then I found out that to get at the Alternator, you have to pull a Y-pipe off of the ending. Mine had apparently fused in place due to heat, so I couldn't do the job myself.

Not very gas friendly either.

i baought a 1998 mercury mystique probably like a year ago now but ever since i have had the car i havve had nothing but problems i wouldd take it back in a heart beat if it was possible and get something more reliable i have lost to many jobs because of that thing

I've had this car for more than 15 years now, and it has been one of the best rides I've ever experienced. It's needed little maitenence - even though I drive it to the max. Just new brakes and a couple of sets of new tires.
