It's a reliable car but I wish the transmission was smoother Fuel economy is OK. I wish there was an interior latch to open the lift door

This is a great little car for people who just want something to commute in. We have the 5MT model and it's quite perky! There's room for four adults, but don't take a journey that's longer than three hours in the car, as it isn't built for that. The seats are comfortable enough for a shorter distance, not like comfy armchairs like they are in our Grand Caravan. It's gotten through Albertan winters pretty well and it even comes with heated seats. It's noisy at highway speeds but overall a nice, reliable day-to-day commuter.

Have owned this car since new and have had not one problem with it. It is a sub-compact but drives and feels like a much larger vehicle. The SX is loaded with all the bells and whistles and never disappoints. Ride is solid, comfort factor is great. Extras like the sunroof, navigation, and power everything make it feel truly luxurious for such a small car. Fuel economy is very good and as a daily driver it is a joy to own. The dealership is also top notch and very helpful. All in all I could not be happier with the vehicle.

I purchased my Kia Rio 5 brand new on their release November 2011. I was commuting from Sudbury to Parry Sound weekly and the advertised fuel economy is what sold me on the car. Well dont be fooled with advertised fuel economy. The only time you will hit close to it is driving 80kmh on a flat smooth road with the wind at your back. The best average |I have seen is 6.6 litres per 100km. That was not using the cruise control and never going above 105kmh. Dont bother using the cruise control with the automatic as it constantly downshifts harshly on any slight incline. Sure you can lock it in six gear with the sport shift, however you will notice your rpm will increase by 500rpm when you turn the cruise on. So there is a loss of fuel economy right there. The dash has had an annoying rattle since second week of ownership and kia could not fix. Had to change rear brake pads and rotors and new pads on front at 30000km which I found unacceptable for a car that did 90% travel on highway 69. I also find it unacceptable in this day and age not to have a engine coolant temp gauge. On the plus side, its got plenty of power, a nice interior with lots of usefull options standard. However the so called heated wipers are a joke. All in all its a cheap car to buy with a long list of standard options. Just remember, its not a Honda or Toyota so dont expect the fit and finish quality to be there. However, its a better option than a fiesta or sonic.

We have been extremely happy with the handling, comfort and reliability of this vehicle for short or long commutes, Its a great looking vehicle with its sport interior make it pleasure to get into and drive, the convenience and ease of folding the rear seats to allow for room in the back made grocery shopping a pleasure with access through the hatchback. There's lots of room for its size and the front, side and upper airbags made you feel safe especially with the whole family along for the ride. The Kia maintenance schedule and pricing made planning for regular maintenance easy, the Kia service dept is fantastic to deal with and always on time.

Best economical car I have owned. Very reliable with excellent gas mileage. I have never had an issue with the vehicle and will be buying Kia again in the future. You will love the heated seats come winter also.

For me the most important thing is to have an affordable and reliable car. This car was just that. I never had issues with it. With the Winter tires, it's also incredibly safe during horrible winter conditions. My comfort has always been small cars that have the extra room capacity. I've moved 2x with this car and love the extra room. I would recommend this car for anyone looking for a safe first car or for the perfect city car.

2012 kia rio5 is an excellent subcompact that feels and drives similar to a toyota corolla. I have been a rental guy for 2 yrs when we go out of town, and I can't believe how smooth the handling was with the new rio when I test drove it. the steering was very responsive. I also love the new exterior and and updated interior layout.

Compared this car to the Sonic, Fiesta, Yaris, Fit and Accent. None of those could come close to the standard equipment I got on mine. Best looking car in it's class, both inside and out. Well laid out interior. Only issue is that the fuel economy is not quite what was promised. Other than that it is an awesome car.

Love this car! Great gas mileage, fun to drive, and Kia packed so much in their base model. What other car could I get that came with seat heaters, power everything, and a bluetooth enabled stereo for as inexpensive as this car? Thanks Kia!

In terms of value for the money I find this car the best in its class. One thing i don't like about this car (I drive an automatic)is that it decelerates rather quickly when I let off the gas

this car was very efficient on fuel, however had issues with the paint job specifically on the door handles. The CD player had to be replaced almost immediately when still brand new, otherwise no problems with the vehicle

We bought this car new and so far have been impressed. It has great features for a economy car; i really like the bluetooth stereo, the heated seats are theraputic and the heated side mirrors are a nice safety function.

I purchased this car in a bit of a hurry in the early spring of 2012. We are a single car family and and our current vehicle was suddenly out of commission. I didn't have much time to research but I found this this model had pretty decent reviews. I find that it's really easy on gas, comfortable to drive and works well for my family of three. Parking is a breeze and I find the hatchback and folding seats to be pretty handy. My only complaint is that it is pretty low to the ground so every once in a while in the winter I have to avoid certain situations in order to not have my car stuck in a pile of snow. All in all, a very minor detail when considering where I live. I'm really happy with this vehicle and I will definitely consider buying Kia again in the future.

This car is a very comfortable and intuitive car to drive. Very predictable on all types of road conditions. With studded tires in the winter there is almost nowhere this car won't go. Wish it was better on gas though, for a little car isn't cheap to drive.

When you ride with this car is just so comfortable and no nuisance sounds of the motor. But you can also make noise when you try the semi-auto function. It's a really good car to try!

I bought my Rio new in early 2009 and I love it, has been reliable, drives great and is good on gas. what can you want more

I have had my car since late June of this year. It is very comfortable, offers a smooth ride and a nice size interior for a smaller car. The controls are very easy and intuitive to use. I particularly like how their extra little lights that come on in the controls at night.

We are getting excellent fuel economy with this vehicle. The cruise control is extremely easy to use. The heated seats are also a nice touch. The control of the vents in the car is a great feature as it allows both the passenger and the driver to create a comfortable environment in the car.

This is a great car.

For a small car, this vehicle offers a lot of versatility and more comfort (even for tall people!) than one might expect. We are only selling it because we are taking possession of my mother's 2006 Rio5 with many fewer km's. Otherwise, we would be keeping this one for a few more years.

Nice city car, roomy for it's size, fuel economy could be better for its class, really good in the city and short distance
No arm rest on passenger seat
passenger seat doesn't fold down all the way to fully utilize the storage thru the fold down back seats.
Not too comfortable on long trips; noisy on highway.

I purchased my Kia Rio5 used in 2010 as a used rental vehicle. Many parts are still stock and the car couldn't be more reliable. The car is great on gas and the tank doesn't cost more than $50 to fill up, even on the most expensive gas days to date.

This car is highly recommended for a small commuter.

The Kia Rio5 is a great compact car with a great design, it looks good from inside and out. It is also a great car for driving on hwy, very highway fuel efficient therefore it's a great car for people who have to drive a long distance to get to work or for traveling. The only downfall I have came across with this vehicle is trunk space.
