Great fun car, but lack of durability
For a 400$ used car bought at 190 000km I had fun for 2 years without any issue.

But rust finally won

Great fun car, but lack of durability
Had fun for 2 years with this used car bought for 400$ in 2016.

It had 190 000km ran well for 30 000km and started having injection issue.

The rust problem was affecting everything, had to scrap it.

love it
great little car, very little repairs spent on it and great gas mileage, highly recommended to anyone looking to buy a reliable used car. Owned mine for 5 years now and still drives like new, very quiet and stylish, will definitely buy a newer model in the future.

Amazing family car
I love this vehicle It is so versatile for a family with amazing space. I truely enjoy road trips with it and even with all seats being used the trunk has enough space for all luggage. It drives like a dream and the standard features blow me away

Sweet for long road
Nice car, nice view inside and outside, basic options are pretty nice too, the only thing is the Fuel...Downtown, it cost a lot.

Fabulous car
I've wanted an Elantra for years. Loved the look of the model. When I finally visited a Hyundai dealer and test drove the car I wasn't dissipointed. The new body style, fog lights... make it a sharp looking car. Insides features like the rear is camera, XM radio and heated seats are a great bonus. I love the way it handles and rides! Totally recommend and Elantra, was worth the wait!

Definite value for money
We needed a new car and wanted a compact hatch, so we looked at the Kia Rio, Hyundai Elantra GT, and Mazda 3. As a car guy, I am a fan of the Mazda. I found the Hyundai's ride too jiggly with it not having independent rear suspension but was pleasantly surprised with the interior. Materials are nice and soft to the touch. Looks and fitment are both good. There are a couple of areas where I feel Hyundai doesn't quite match up to Toyota for quality, but I may be biased owning a Camry that's lasted for 365000km.

We got our '14 model with 16500km in Apr '17, so I can't comment much on reliability aside from it giving us no problems after about 8000km. Car feels solid (ride aside), and there are no loose trim pieces or rattling.

It's definitely not sporty. The steering is overboosted and gives very little feedback, and turning on sport mode just gives you less power assist. There's 173HP, but not much low-end torque, so mash the gas pedal if you need to go quickly. The transmission downshifts quickly but the gearing for it is definitely tailored towards fuel economy. We're averaging 10.2L/100km in the city, and between 7.2L/100km on the highway.

For your money, you do get a lot of goodies. For a used car, this model gives you more toys than a car like a Civic or a Mazda 3 where you would have to shell out another $2000 or more to get the same goodies. Ours has leather, butt warmers, panoramic sunroof, and power everything. One thing that is weird is that express up/down for the power windows is only available for the driver's window, no matter what trim level you buy. Also, backup cam is only available if you have the SE Tech, which comes with GPS/Nav and proximity key, which is a bit of a downer, but not a deal-breaker.

Overall, a very competent car if you're into compact hatches. It's no Mazda when it comes to handling, but bang for your buck is high. I highly recommend anyone looking for a compact to take a look for themselves rather than a boring Corolla.

It's a great ride
I love my car. It gets great mileage and the fuel economy is second to none.
The parts are a bit much and I wouldn't advise on getting the extended warranty on it.

How do they do it
The best car I've had since my Volvo, for quality, features and engineering. It runs well on the highway and in town. Is spacious inside and lets you stick you elbows out. The seats slide far enough back that I cant reach the pedals, but far enough forward that a short person would have no problems.

2009 Hyundai Elantra GT

by Chickie on 11-24-2015
Reliable and economical
I purchased this car in 2009 new. in 2013 there abouts it started to become sluggish with the tranny. upon stopping to accelerating it had a hard shift in the tranny, almost like it wanted to stall. I found it was a little noisy in the engine, and not the smoothest ride over bumps,,,,other than that it was a great car. roomy enough for passengers and cargo. Good on gas mileage. The tires that came with the car were horrible, cheap and slid terribly in snow. I had a minor curb accident my first winter with the car,,,, new tires made all the difference. I am looking at getting another car,,,, I can't wait to drive an newer Elantra as I LOVE the look of them! Overall i love this make of car, feel safe driving it. Test driving the 2012, I see the ride is still not as smooth and soft as a more expensive car,,,,overall prob the best bang for your buck. And truly the SEXIEST car on the road in its class!!
