Ford Explorer 2011Change

This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Ford did it right when they made this. It has been great as a family vehicle, very dependable.

In short, this was an underrated vehicle when it came out. Even I wasn't sure initially that I was going to get one at the time. But in the balance of things, after MUCH research, and given it was reasonably priced for an SUV with its features, I went ahead. I didn't want to spend $40 or $50 grand, and I'm glad I didn't, as this turned out to be a great purchase.

Yes, there were initially some iffy reviews on the 2011, but I did my homework and eventually discovered that they almost exclusively had to do with MyFord Touch syncing issues. Subsequent software updates have worked out all the kinks. Today, in fact, the 2011 Explorer gets a solid 4-star rating here on AT and pretty much a 4/4+ elsewhere in the industry.

It's extremely smooth on the highway, fuel-efficient as far as SUV's go (in fact, it gets VG ratings for this in its class), quiet, and spacious both front and back. The leather is in excellent condition and, with the seat design, makes for a very, very comfortable ride. Whether on a trip or just driving locally, I love the controls available on the wheel, as there's literally nothing that you can't do that you might want to, which is not only a good safety thing but a brilliant convenience thing.

I am blown away by how far along Ford has come. Having test driven the Mercedes GLK, X3, X5, Q7, and many other luxury cars, not one of them has been as comfortable and as beautiful from the inside and out. I have owned the Explorer for 3-years now and it feels as comfortable now as it did back when I got in 2011. On top of this the MyFord Touch system is state of the art and since Ford has taken care of all the bugs in the system now, it is absolutely flawless. Also, this might be my personal opinion, but I feel that the Explorer has the best looking interior in comparison to most of the other Luxury SUVs. They're somehow made it filled with gadgets, yet at the same time left the car feeling very spacious (something I did not find in the Audi or Lexus). Lastly, the space in the third-row is big enough to seat adults. This is a great feature since the third-row seats in most other SUVs these days can only seat children.

All in all this car is very well-made and can go head-to-head against many german SUVs that are priced significantly higher.

This is the 4th Explorer I have owned and it has been an excellent family vehicle. It is comfortable, with lots of room, and with the large premium tires, 4-Wheel Drive, tow package, skid plates, rear-view camera, etc , it has has been a safe and high performing vehicle.

This has been the by far the best vehicle I have ever owned and if I could afford to keep it while going back to school I would. I have every intention on purchasing this exact vehicle once I have finished school.

The Microsoft Sync system has been great with my Iphone, winter driving was made safe, comfortable and warm. It has been a privilege to drive this vehicle and I will be sad to see it go.

Steers easy, leather seating makes it fancier. small and easy to maneuver car. good view to look out back window. Also back window and trunk opens.

I've never had any issues with this vehicle. Has always been reliable. Looks awesome! Will be getting another one! Good job, Ford!

Love the feel of my Ford Explorer. From cruising, to back road adventures, you feel powerful and unstoppable. This truck has never let me down!

Its not perfect but it gets the job done, could use a little more refinement. Quality is average, styling is above average and off course SYNC has its glitches
