Ford Escape 2009Change

So far this car has done me well. Affordable in price for a AWD vehicle. Great for winter. Reliable. I love how it looks but there are a few issues.

Had issues with the throttle body throughout the whole time I've had this vehicle. Seems like it doesn't give a good punch when I step on the gas for a V6.

Interior not the greatest. The cup holders are in an awkward position and the cloth interior fades easily.

Other than that, if you want an affordable SUV without all the bells and whistles this may be a car for you.

I bought this car new for my business. It now has close to 385000 kms on it. The only issue was a axle seal leak at 25K but since then I have spent less than $650.00 on repairs. An oil leak and front sway bar links The only con would be the brakes don't last as long as I would like but if the driver uses the hill hold option the front brakes can last 125K easy. It has been maintained at all intervals called for and It still does not use any oil. This SUV runs very strong (3.0 L V6) and even after all these Kms still drives straight and does not wear tires out unevenly.It has never let me down. I would buy another Escape in a heartbeat.

Searching for an SUV and I stumbled upon a fully loaded 2009 Ford Escape that an older gentleman was using. I purchased the SUV with only 60 000km on it, it literally still had the new car smell. Great SUV. Reliable. Given that it is a 2009 model it lacks the new features that a model 2015+ would have, however I still have bluetooth capability & a backup sensor.

Pro-tip: If you have issues with the bluetooth/sync features, a simple battery pull will restore the feature back to normal. When first attempting to use these features myself they did not work. Now they work 100%.

CON: It can be a gas-guzzler at times, with the current pricing in Canada for a full tank its $60 approximately every 5 days.

Love this car, gives feeling of safety and security. And is big enough for the family, 2-3 car seats, dogs, and bicycles and strollers in the back.

Owned mine since 2010.
Was great for first 120000 klm...then by 160000klm vehicle is shot.
Wheel bearings, rusting, drive shaft bearing and rear differential. These items should last much longer.

served us well for all our needs, cavernous space when seats folded down, adequate comfort, good performance, ok styling, good mpg low insurance, on balance this was a good buy for us.

I have travelled over 60000 km in this vehicle with minimum disruption. Really good on gas. Lots of room in the back, I have a 185lb dog and he is with me most of the time. He seems happy in here too.

Have driven all four model years. The body and the specs are so much alike . Why pay so much extra when you can have the same vehicle for thousands less. Like with any purchase .

This vehicle is great for all season driving, comfortable ride in town & on highway. Lots of room for groceries & sport equipment.

the ford escape is a reliable vehicle however it leave much to be desired in detail and style more of a family type vehicle to say the least. however that being said the fact that i can take it on long drives without it breaking down is a huge improvement on ford's side of things however nothing beat a good dodge truck when it comes to power i mean you would have to be insane to get a ford f150 or a ram but i guess thats up to you to dedide

I've own this car for almost 5 years and have had no problem with it. My family of five is comfortable even for long trips. Last summer we traveled 6,000 Km during our 1 week camping trip to the Grand Canyon. It works well in hot and cold climates.

If I had to mentioned one drawback, it would be the colour black. It is really hard to keep it clean.

Overall, I like my Escape.

This car has been great for every situation, it has a ton of room yet is great on fuel and has been very reliable. I have yet to have a problem with the car and am currently purchasing a second for another family member.

I've tortured this car almost every week and it is able to handle it very well. Almost all my friends love the looks of the car and the standard options it comes with. Having an AUX jack really helps to have a party while traveling long distances. Lot's of space in the back for ski's and boots. Too bad the fuel economy is a bit low for a small SUV but it is very reliable as a car. Would recommend it.

We bought this Escape from Hathaway Ford,Amherst,N.S.It was one of the best car buying experience ever. After we took delivery of the vehicle, we did not have to return to the dealer until the first scheduled maintenance. except for one Ford triggered recall for transmission function, no other service or repairs have been required.The thing has been flawless, no rattles,squeaks,no hesitation. Never had a new car that was so good, out of the gate. It is a modest XLT, 2.5 L 4 banger with ample power, it's spacious, and reasonably comfortable, it tracks and handles nicely at any speed. Way to Go Ford.

Very safe because of its height and durability, but not very fuel efficient due to its large size and weight. Very comfortable though.

Drove this thing as a teenager. Great starter suv for someone who is just learning how to drive. Wont be dissapointed if you purchase this car.

Have been driving my Ford Escape 2009 for almost 4 years. It had a very good price along with zero interest and noticeable discounts at the time we bought it. No problem with the engine at all. I don't even check the oil and cooling fluid levels. Had problem with the transmission though. It was jerky while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear which was fixed under warranty. Gas mileage has not changed after 4 years and is the same what the manufacturer claimed.

This car drives me around. It goes and stops really well. It has a nice red color, which always gets compliments.

Kind of ugly but good performance. Easy to maintain, nice inside designed. Pretty good on gas. This written thing needs to be to long. But i will go on. the color was nice but wasn't the best.

The Ford escape has to be the worst vehicle I have ever driven. The seats are so uncomfortable. Every three days it takes at least $80 in gas. When accelerating is stalls. The battery has died at least six times this year for no reason. This SUV cost over $34,000 and it isn't worth it.

The car is quite comfortable, very nicely designed interior. Is pretty good with performance but fuel economy could use some work.

Although our Escape lacks some of the power found in other SUVs, I find it to be plenty quick enough, with good economy (about 550 km on a tank of gas in the city) and loads of comfort. The stock stereo system includes a port for playing your MP3 through the speakers, and the seats, which warm up with the press of a button, are very comfy. It handles very well, too, takes off and accelerates well. Very happy with this car!

over 190,000 klms still with original brakes. tires lasted 100,000. love the sync although it does not work with all my phone stuff.

Great handling in city, but loves to run on the highway!! Easy to manage in tight spaces, but can take an incredable payload be it 5 adult and luggage or loading it up with the back seat down.

I feel very secure in it. It's extremely comfortable. I haven't had any problems with it in the four years I've had it.
