BMW X4
Model Overview
Building on the compact X3's platform, the X4 is labeled a coupe for its sleeker roofline. Rear-seat occupants get less space here, but adults still fit. There's also plenty of typical-for-BMW performance on offer thanks to available power that rivals what the M3 boasted not that long ago. It may be polarizing, but there's no arguing against how much style the X4 contributes to the crossover class.

On certain vehicles, the integrated transmission control unit (ITCU) may not be sealed properly. As a result, transmission oil could leak into the unit and cause the transmission gears to seize. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.

Corrective Actions:
BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the ITCU. The dealer will also inspect the transmission fluid and replace it, if necessary.

Issue:
The tire and loading information label on a small number of vehicles lists the wrong tire size and recommended tire inflation pressures. As a result, if the owner's manual isn't consulted, a person may not properly inflate the tires. This could lead to poor handling and/or a tire failure. In addition, when the tires are replaced, the wrong tires could be installed.
Safety Risk:
Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
None of the affected vehicles have been sold to retail customers. BMW will instruct dealers to replace the tire and loading information label before each vehicle is sold.

This could make the rearview image difficult to see if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display brightness at or near the lowest setting, and contrast at or near the highest setting. Canadian regulations require that the rearview display returns to the default view each time the camera is turned on.

On certain vehicles, the lower anchor bars that are used for installing child seats using the European-ISOFIX-type rigid-style connector may become damaged during vehicle operation. If the lower anchorage bar(s) were to become damaged, this would increase the risk of injury to a child seated in a child seat using this style of connector if involved in a crash. Correction: Dealers will weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars and the vehicle body. Note: Child restraint systems using LATCH-type flexible style connectors, which reflect the vast majority of child restraint systems used in Canada, do not cause this issue.
