Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine crankshaft pulley bolt may have been manufactured improperly. This could cause it to crack and fail. If this happens, the crankshaft could break and cause a sudden engine failure. A driver may hear loud noises and see warning lights on the dash immediately before the engine fails. Safety Risk: An engine failure could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loose pulley could separate from the engine and cause damage. If it separates from the vehicle, it could become a hazard for bystanders or other drivers. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized repair facility to have the crankshaft pulley bolt replaced with a new one.

On certain vehicles, the instrument cluster could go blank intermittently and be unable to display important information. This could result in the driver not being aware of vehicle speed or any malfunction lights turning on, which could affect vehicle performance and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the vehicle software.

On certain vehicles, due to a Restraint Control Module (RCM) software update error, the airbags may not deploy as intended in the event of a frontal impact. Failure of the airbags to deploy during a collision that warrants airbag deployment could increase the risk of injury to the occupants. Correction: Dealers will update the RCM with the latest software.

Certain vehicles may have been equipped with a passenger frontal airbag inflator that does not meet specifications. This could cause the passenger frontal airbag to fail to deploy in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag assembly.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection. The functionality of the Airbag Status Indicator Lamp may have been incorrectly described in the owner’s manual. This will not affect the operation of the Occupant Sensor System but an occupant that does not correctly understand the airbag functionality may be at an increased risk of injury in a crash. Correction: Owners will receive a handbook supplement containing the proper information on the airbag system to add to the owners manual.

On certain vehicles, underbody brake pipe unions may not have been tightened to specification. This could cause a loss of brake fluid, illuminating the brake warning lamp and causing the instrument cluster to display the warning message "Fluid Level Low". If operated in this condition, brake system function could be affected, potentially increasing stopping distances or causing a loss of brake system function. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Loss of brake fluid could also affect brake pressure switch function, which could cause the vehicle to fail to start. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, top up the brake fluid and tighten the joints to the correct torque specification.

On certain vehicles, fasteners securing components of the engine accessory belt drive system may not have been tightened to specification, and could become loose. This could cause a loss of power steering and/or electrical charging system function, and could allow the alternator's positive cable to arc against other components, potentially resulting in a fire. These issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect fasteners to and tighten to specification as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the front wiper arm to spindle fixings may suffer torque relaxation. Torque relaxation of the securing nut could potentially result in loss of wiper arm synchronization, which can cause clash of the arms. If the wiper arms lose synchronization and clash, they could detach from the vehicle, and in certain circumstances, the driver's forward vision could be impaired, which may increase the risk of a crash. Furthermore, in this condition, the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 104 - Windshield Wiping and Washing System - will not be fully met. Correction: Dealers will ensure the wiper arm is fitted securely onto the spindle and the securing nut is tightened to the correct torque.

On certain vehicles, the brake pipes to the rear wheels could corrode prematurely. The resultant brake fluid leakage would cause extended stopping distances which could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will remove and discard the noise vibration and harshness pad fitted to the under tray. As well, the rear underfloor and rear cross member brake pipes will be inspected and, if necessary, replaced.

On certain vehicles, the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM), Jet Pump Module (JPM) and/or Cluster Valve (CV) seals are not properly retained in the fuel tank. This may result in illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or a fuel odour. If the amount of fuel is above the FDM, JPM or CV apertures, fuel may be discharged onto the ground. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel tank.

On certain vehicles, the moonroof assembly incorporates a reinforcement bar that has been incorrectly assembled such that the bar may contact the glass in the assembly and act as a stress riser. It is possible on door closure, severe road impact or when operated that the moonroof glass may shatter. The moonroof glass is tempered safety glass that is designed to fracture into small pieces that are less likely to cause lacerations. Correction: Dealers will replace the moonroof.
