Like the rest of Buick's 2015 lineup, the Verano gains standard wifi hotspot functionality, but not much else. This is the brand's entry-level sedan, conceived to appeal to younger buyers who might also be considering the Lexus IS, Audi A3 and Acura ILX. While that paints the Verano as a sport sedan, it's actually less that and more a comfortable grand tourer. Power choices include a 2.4L four-cylinder (180 hp/171 lb-ft of torque) and a 2.0L turbo four-pot (250 hp/260 lb-ft); both come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the turbo can be optioned with a six-speed stickshift.
Trim levels start with the 1SB, 1SD, 1SG and 1SL Leather packages (all using the 2.4L engine), and Leather 1ST, which gets the turbocharged engine.
Standard features include driver and front passenger knee airbags and front and rear seat side airbags (for a total of 10 airbags), dual-zone automatic climate control, 17-inch wheels, body-colour outside door handles with chrome insert, automatic headlights, carpeted floor mats, multifunction trip computer, tilt-and-telescopic steering, six-way manual driver and front passenger seats, six-speaker stereo, IntelliLink with seven-inch touchscreen, and USB input.
The 1SD package adds Bluetooth, fog lights, backup camera, remote start, satellite radio and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shifter.
1SG package features include a power six-way driver's seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview, rear park assist, forward collision alert, rear cross traffic alert, side blind spot alert, garage door opener and 18-inch wheels.
Move up to 1SL trim and Buick adds intelligent keyless entry, leather seats, heated steering wheel, and a nine-speaker stereo with external amplifier.
Finally, 1ST models get the 2.0L turbocharged engine, dual bright exhaust tips, body-colour rear spoiler and brushed aluminum sport pedals.
Additional options include navigation, sunroof and six-speed manual transmission (in 1ST trim only).
