An all-new model, the 2010 Volvo XC60 slots below the Volvo XC90. It is being introduced with a single engine choice, the turbocharged T6, and only in all-wheel drive, at a base price of $45,495. Later in the model year, Volvo will introduce the 3.2, using a naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine, which will be priced at $39,995 in front-wheel drive, and $44,495 in all-wheel drive. The T6 will then gain several new features and will be raised to a starting price of $49,995.
The T6 uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Its Haldex all-wheel drive system is front-wheel drive biased, but will transfer power to the rear wheels when necessary.
The XC60 is the first to use Volvo's new City Safety system, which is standard on the T6. At speeds of between four and 30 km/h, it will first warn drivers of impending low-speed rear-end collisions and then, if the driver does not respond, it will apply the brakes and bring the vehicle to a stop.
Standard features on the T6 AWD include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone electronic climate control, automatic headlamps, City Safety, hill descent control, bright roof rails, front and rear fog lights, headlamp washers, heated mirrors, heated leather seats with driver's side memory, power passenger seat, 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, CD stereo, Sirius satellite radio, interior air quality system, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, front and rear reading lamps, locking glovebox, luxury floor mats, outside temperature gauge, auto up/down windows, privacy glass, puddle lights, rear washer/wiper, trip computer, and variable intermittent wipers.
Available options include adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system, collision warning with automatic braking, distance alert, driver alert control, lane departure warning, personal car communicator, power rear door child locks, speed-sensitive steering, adaptive headlamps, panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats, two-stage integrated child booster seats, wood inlays, premium sound system, rain-sending wipers, rear parking camera, and a navigation system with remote control.
