Nissan Titan half-ton pickup revealed ahead of Chicago debut

Nissan has pulled the wraps off the Titan half-ton, the latest addition to the company's all-new line of full-size pickups.

Notably, while this truck shares its name and styling cues with the heavier-duty Titan XD that recently reached Nissan dealers, this new half-ton model shares no common chassis components with the Cummins diesel-powered XD. Both trucks share the same 2,019 mm (79.5 in.) overall width and four-door crew cab body, but the half-ton gives up 373 mm (14.7 in.) in overall length to the XD.

To start, all half-ton models will use a 5.6L "Endurance" V8 engine generating 390 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque mated to a standard seven-speed automatic transmission, and with a choice of 4x2 and 4x4 drivelines. Nissan says a V6 engine will come later, but isn't ready to reveal technical details.

The Crew Cab configuration will be joined by single and King Cab options, as well as a choice of 5.5-, 6.5- and eight-foot bed lengths.

Nissan says the Titan half-ton will go on sale this summer.
