Slideshow: Weird Car Commercials from Japan

There's a formula to car commercials: gravelly voiced narrator, overhead shots from a helicopter, car zooming past a camera placed on the ground, driver steps out and enters a classy restaurant, cue pricing information and fine print. Easy.

Trucks? Same thing, except you get a couple closeups of a loaded cargo bed, a shot of the driver with his elbow resting on the windowsill as the morning sun shines from behind him and at the end he steps out into a construction site.

In North America at least. It's a different story in Japan. Very different.
