This car has given me everything I ever asked for in a vehicle.

It has been supple and comfortable to drive. Always smooth and accurate with the steering and power delivery, while offering tons of fun and excitement when asked. I have taken it on long journeys across Canada (twice!) and pushed it to it's limits on the drag strip and race track. it has always delivered the kind of ride quality and creature comforts I would expect in an Audi or more premium brand.

The GTI is always the first to pull away in traffic and with a few upgrades it has surprised me even more. With bridgestone potenza re-11s, k&n intake, and APR ECU I am able to post 14.5 quarter mile (better than a mazdaspeed 3 at the track that day). The car is fun to toss around and always fills you with confidence behind the wheel. At very high speeds, it's stability and solid ride can deceive just how fast you are going when a lesser car would simply rattle and snake around. The stock breaks resilience around the track is better than expected as they withstand loads of abuse without much fade.

Sexy interior and exterior styling (yes, many ladies compliment me on the car) round out a package that has never failed me. Are there cars with better fuel economy? Yes, but this is not a Honda fit. For the performance you receive I would say the efficiency of this drivetrain is very impressive.

Only downside is that the front wheels can sometimes be overwhelmed when putting the power down hard and the ride height is a bit high on the stock 2008.

If you are looking for a hot-hatch at a great price (used go for around 18k at the time of this writing) look no further.

This was my 6th GTI and by far the best. They keep getting better every year. This time I decided to add the APR chip the day after I bought it. The DSG gearbox is super fast and can just keep pulling through all the gears, handes like a charm, quiet, comfortable, and very reasonable on fuel, about 8 l/100 km. It's a shame to let it go and with the option package and the CAI and chip it would cost you over 42K to replace.

Love this car great on gas handels like a race can and its not very expensive to but and it is the most relible car that i know about

Fast. Fun. Fuel efficient. Ample room for friends or goods.
The GTI has the heart of a sports car with a turbocharged engine, and amazing transmissions. Based on the popular Golf, the police do not give it much attention as well. The hatchback design allows for ample interior space that can rival small SUVs. When driven conservatively, it is very fuel efficient. And when the situation turns bad, no matter how fast, the GTI and it's strong construction has you covered with unparalleled safety.

Great car. Speed, transmission and suspension all lived up to the Volkswagen name. interior design is outstanding, paying attention to details. Great vehicle with ample power.

Great hatchback. it's perfectly balanced. Good for a trip to the store, or if you want to rip down a mountain road. it's pretty quick to say the least. personally i believe it could have a bit more power to keep up with the Mazdaspeed3, ford ST, and other hot hatches. The seats and the feel of the car is amazing. Everything is soft to the touch. Feels more like an Audi interior. Not a bad car to look at either. My one issue with the GTI is how reliable it is. Ive owned the car for 5 months and had the engine light come on 4 times. i keep up with maintenance and all that jazz. But it was one thing after another. Nothing seemed to be covered in the warranty. Car sadly turned into a money pit.

Ive had it for about a year and a half. Never left me stranded, i work in abby but live in surrey. Always had a good time with it but ive wanted a rwd car for a while so it has to go.

this was one of the best cars i have ever had defintly will look to buy another and i think everyone else should to good gas milage and suffeciantce

Nicely driven and good agility on the road. But engin light has been on twice under 3 years on the car with regular maintenance and usage - questionable rather it'll last.

it was the most reliable car i have owned so far,driving position,handling ,performance and braking far superior to the cars i have had before including ford mondeo's peugeot 306 amonst others...... would buy another without doubt
