Great Commuter Car

Sips gas and never lets you down! Great for commuting. This is a great first car for a student. A/C works great, used it to haul my skis and bike all over town.

2000 Mazda Protege

Love it!

this has been a great, reliable car for me. It's not the nicest to look at, but the seats are comfy, my kids are comfy in the back, and not totally squished with their car seats and booster seats. The gas mileage is fantastic. I do love it.

Ive had two mazda proteges now and they have been great. i went to school a few provinces over and never had a problem with my car with all the trips between school and home.

2001 Mazda Protege

Great little car!

I bought my 2001 Mazda Protege brand new, and I have never fallen out of love with it. It's a great little car, I keep it regularly maintained with oil changes and I have never had a serious problem with it yet and it is still on the road.

My Protege has 281,000 kms on it and it is still running strong! I have had to replace the timing change belt once (all foreign cars have them) and I have had to replace the water pump but other then that it's perfect!

amazing little car
very good on gas
very basic but easy to fix
doesnt require much maintenance and most of the stuff can be fixed by yourself
good insurance rates
good power/acceleration

great little ride

me and my girlfriend bought this as our first car in 2008 it had 167000 km on it and ive only had to repair the exhaust on it it now has 213000 km on it and it still runs fine

2001 Mazda Protege

Great Around-Town Car

Love the handling: plenty of zip with the 5-speed manual married to a 2.0L FI engine. Revs too high on the highway - should have been a 6-speed or spread the gears out more.
Corners great with the front & rear stabilizer bars and 55 profile tires on standard 15" wheels. Kept it until it reached 350k then started leaking oil so had to give in and trade it. So long, my reliable friend!

2001 Mazda Protege

Classic exterior design - steady performer

Very reliable car - no major problems - just regular maintenance. Car's 2.0 liter engine delivers more than adequate power but 'growls' a little at higher RPM. Interior is OK - good dash layout, seats could be a little firmer, and the defrost fan is a bit loud at the highest setting. Gets good but not great gas mileage. See lots of this vintage Protégé still on the road and looking great!

2003 Mazda Protege

Great Car, gets the Job Done

I had a Mazda Protege as my first card as a gift from my mother, the handling was great, the breaks were great. It wasn't the fastest of cars but it got to point a to point b and considering when I had the car gas was on the rise it was really good on fuel. If you're looking for a good car that will keep you going, try out a protege.

Good Little Dependable Car

This has been my daily driver for years. and if well maintained and looked after. Easily can run several hundred thousand KMS!
