The retro-styled, front-wheel-drive PT Cruiser received a stay of execution in July 2009 when Chrysler reversed an earlier decision to cease production after a nine-year run. It competes against such models as the Chevrolet HHR and Mazda3 hatchback.
Exterior: The PT Cruiser vaguely resembles a panel truck of the 1930s, overlaid with street-rod styling from the 1950s. Bulging fenders, fender-mounted headlights and taillights, and a tall, wide eggcrate grille give the PT Cruiser its unique look.
*Standard 16-inch alloy wheels
*Standard chrome accents
*Rear window wiper/washer
*Body-colored spoiler on liftgate
Interior: Up to five occupants can fit inside the PT Cruiser. Standard equipment includes remote keyless entry, power windows, CD stereo with an MP3 jack, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, an Electronic Vehicle Information Center and other items that were previously optional.
Under the hood sits one powertrain for 2010 consisting of a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Chrysler's 2.4L outputs 150-hp & 165 pounds-feet of torque.
Safety: Antilock four-wheel disc brakes are now standard. Other standard safety features include:
**Dual front airbags
**Driver's knee airbag
