Dodge Nitro 1975-2010Change

This SUV is a very comfortable ride that brings allot of power behind the wheel. However it is full of blind spots due to its box like shape.

Had an 07 Nitro saved my life in a rollover caused by a drunk driver. Replaced with an 08 Nitro and still luv this vehicle. Could have better gas mileage but, is good on the highway.

I am 6 Ft. The rare view mirror interferes with my view of objects at the front left side of the vehicle. A tall person either has to duck below the mirror or lean to into various angles to see objects standing at an intersection. Sometimes when you are positioning yourself to observe pedestrians at an intersection, they interpret your maneuver as "checking them out".
Everything else about this vehicle more than makes up for this one obstacle.

Love this car! Big engine that gets through Canadian Winter without a problem. It has lots of trunk space to that lets me travel with lots of room for luggage. I do wish it was better on gas though it is a large engine that does tend to guzzle.

I have enjoyed the reliability and the road comfort. I can drive this car for hours without getting tired. It features one of the few vehicles with a full frame. This is important if you get hit in an accident.

Bought my 2007 Nitro with only 17,000km on it. Owned it for 9 years. I really only have good things to say about it. Great fuel economy and a nice quiet ride. Was able to tow my trailer and I even camped out the back of it in winter. Plenty of room in the back for my dog, and handy to have the seats fold down flat for hauling larger/longer items. I haven't had one issue with it. Would suggest winter tires for the rear wheel drive. Was recently t-boned and it may be written off, the only reason I may be giving it up.

The Dodge Nitro is an all around great user vehicle. It is built tough, and has never failed me. The 6 speed manual transmission gives the powerful V6 engine excellent fuel economy, almost comparable to most 4 cylinder cars.

I have had my Nitro for about 1 year and 3 months and it's been absolutely great! I always feel safe in it and it never breaks down on me. It's been very reliable in the sense of safety and security. I do a lot of high way driving and it has a smooth ride and is quite comfortable. The all wheel drive in the winter makes life that much easier! It handles slick roads very well and the winter is no challenge for the Nitro. I highly suggest this vehicle! Great for a first car or even for a family. It is versatile in many ways. Fuel on it could be better but that's expected with a SUV!

I have loved this vehicle. Whether on a back road geocaching expedition, playing in the snow, or pulling a utility trailer, this vehicle has not disappointed me. It handles exceptionally well and the 3.6L engine provides lots of pick-up when needed. So why am I selling? I bought a newer vehicle. Hate to see this one go.

I've had a lot of SUV's in the past, I have been really impressed by the performance and reliability of this vehicle. I was going to get a Dodge Charger at first but when I drove the Nitro I FELL IN LOVE!!!! So much POWER, and it was Standard just the way I like my cars. Also it is 6 SPEED so on the highway I cruise with speed no problem. I've never had any mechanical issues at all, this car has been a dream to me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Also in the snow storms this car PLOWS through the snow no problem and its only 2x4!!! We had a lot of snow storms this winter and Im glad my Nitro kept me safe!

I've been in alot of different cars in my life, this one has to be one of my favourites. Has a excellent turning radius, comfy, feel safe driving it, a good amount of space. I've always loves the look of these, m proud to be a owner of one. But I will miss it when I have to sell it.

Leaving the Province to retire! We are not driving both machines cross Canada! Love my SUV, never once got stuck! Fuel is great and it can be parked anywhere! Turning radius is unbelievable! Never caused me any trouble whatsoever! Sad to see it go; but happy to retire!

Have owned the car for roughly over 1 month now, and drive around 120km each day commuting to work and back.

I haven't had the chance to test in snow/ice, but in hard rain and wheel deep mud (yes, I take it off road for some fun) it handles with superiority. I drive it in 2 wheel drive (RWD) and switch it to AWD when needed.

The ride is very smooth, and despite being a 'tank' it handles like a hatchback. My trim came with a hard-drive which enables me to save songs, movies, and pictures.

I bought it used with 88,000km, and it has almost 100,000km on it and no issues (knock on wood).

Mileage is around 11.5l/100km on hwy and around 13l/100km in city.

It's a 3.7L V6, so don't expect a hybrid fuel economy.

It's so roomy on the inside, that my Bernese Mt. Dog and Jack Russell have ample space to play in the back with the back seats down folding flat!.

If you want an SUV with opportunity for anything, and looks that will last for decades, get the Nitro!

The Nitro is a great mid size SUV and facilitated all my needs since the time I bought it. I kept it clean and simple in its style points but accented it with tint and rims. I recommend that anyone in the market for a SUV of this size and trim package look into a Nitro.

I've never had an issue with this vehicle. It's been reliable and kept me loyal to Dodge. I've just bought a Ram, and would like to sell the Nitro. One day, when I have a runway for a driveway, and a heliport, I'll buy another Nitro.

Terrible vehicle, many problems... When first bought, random times when turning on it wouldn't start, but would sound like it was choking on something.. Then after sometime a different problem would arise.. It would say one of the doors were open, even though all were closed, obviously interior lights wouldn't turn off. Took it to Dodge and they would tell us we don't know what we're talking about, flashed the system once and never had any problems after that. It now has 103,000km and the transmission is showing its age, when shifting from first to second year the car will jerk and the front of the vehicle will dip. Took it to Dodge they said the solenoid wasn't functioning properly, got that changed for $908.. Problem was gone for two days, it's now back. Another problem it has is the lifetime of the rear lights, I'm not sure if its short circuits or surges, I'm constantly having to replace the left rear light.. the left side only. Ridiculous car, haven't had a great time with this vehicle, wouldn't recommend buying the Dodge Nitro.

great car that has been extremely reliable for 5 years. highway driving gave 550 K's a tank of gas city is 420 K's. well thought out truck with lots of space whether rear seats are folded flat or not. The styling is unique, a rugged design but not so far out there that you get bored of it after a few months. In 5 years and 100+ kilometers other than regular maintenance (oil, sparkplugs, filters, breaks etc) i've never had to put a dime into the Nitro. You can comfortably fit 5 people on a long road trip with room for the luggage in the back or on the roof rack.

Since we've owned this car we've had two kids, and fit everything we ever needed into it on any trip. The SUV is great on the highway, and good on gas for such a large SUV. We've never had an accident and never had it not start. We had to replace the Struts and Breaks a little over a year ago, and I got new tires for my wife 2 years ago. Really good seasonal tires that run through the snow no problem. Run into too much snow, pop it into 4 wheel drive, and watch it go!!

I really like my Dodge Nitro other than the fuel mileage which never really got any better since we bought it. Otherwise, the 4x4 on the fly is awesome, no slipping all over the side roads for me anymore! Plus it cruises really nice on the HWY which is when the gas comsumption is actually not bad.

This is great vehicle! It is every day family car. Coming from 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser the fuel economy is way better- almost double. We would never look for other SUV, but my wife could not get use to the RWD. So now we want to sell it and get a 4x4 or AWD SUV to fit the toddler, stroller and large dog.

One problem is fuel tank burps up a litre or more of fuel onto side of car once full, the fix is a new tank ( pricey ). Other problem is a pulley bearing on the engine which makes a knocking sound. Only on r/t model 4 litre engine. Still worth getting this motor though as the extra 70 hp is nice!

we could always rely on this car, for short and long trips. We never had it breakdown once or had a problem with it since. I Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sturdy long term car.

I have had this car for four years and would gladly drive it for another 4 (Moving out of the country). In the summer I get so many people looking and asking about my car and in the winter I have not even come close to having a single issue. amazing car!!

I personally love my nitro. we took it on a road trip through the mountains , camping out of the back. It was GREAT !! I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for an adventure...
